Planned Giving Options
There is no minimum amount for a legacy gift, and gifts can be endowed in the form of cash, securities, or other financial instruments, as a one-time gift or in perpetuity.
Endowments are pooled in The Tomorrow Fund™, unless otherwise specified. The Tomorrow Fund™ ensures that United Way is able to make an impact on future generations of people from Windsor and Essex County.
The principal of The Tomorrow Fund™ is invested by United Way, and the interest is used annually to support local programs and services funded by United Way.
Participation in the Tomorrow Fund™ is easy and flexible with giving options that include:
- Bequest under your will
- Appreciated property and securities
- Charitable gift annuities
- Charitable life insurance
- Charitable remainder trust
- Pooled income fund
- In memoriam gifts
Tax Benefits of a Gift of Securities
There are valuable benefits when you endow certain financial instruments directly to United Way. Benefits include:
- Reduction or elimination of capital gains tax on appreciated assets
- Enhancement of after tax returns on invested capital
- Retention of the life use of a donated asset while still receiving a current tax credit
- Reduction of estate costs
