WINDSOR-ESSEX COUNSELLING SUPPORT LINE

A pandemic is a very stressful event for individuals and families. It's understandable to feel anxious, stressed, angry, depressed or fearful. As the impact of COVID-19 in the Windsor-Essex community and the need for physical isolation continues, these feelings can become overwhelming and difficult to manage.

The Windsor-Essex Counselling Support Line provides free, safe, timely and responsive telephone counselling support to people who are struggling to cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The helpline operates 24/7 and is available in English and French and translation services are also available.

The Windsor-Essex Counselling Support Line provides professional support from counsellors who are members of the Ontario College of Social Workers and who are experienced in providing personal counselling services. The confidential support line is available to everyone in Windsor-Essex County, including individuals, couples, seniors and families.

Talking with a counsellor can help reduce your feelings of sadness, anger, fear, anxiety while helping you or a loved one learn new coping skills to more effectively manage during these stressful times. The Support Line offers:

  • Professional counselling support and encouragement
  • Helpful tools, techniques and resources
  • Community resources or referral information
  • Transfer to crisis services if needed

The Support Line is meant to assist people experiencing mild to moderate distress. Individuals with severe mental health conditions or experiencing a crisis should call the Community Crisis Centre (24/7) at 519-973-4435 or for emergencies, call 911.

FINANCIAL RELIEF NAVIGATOR

United Way Centraide Canada is proud to support the development of Prosper Canada’s Financial Relief Navigator.

Access all the benefits and financial relief measures supporting Canadians in one, simple, easy to use location. The Financial Relief Navigator (FRN), is an English and French online tool providing a one-stop portal to help vulnerable Canadians access critical emergency benefits and financial relief from governments, financial institutions, telecoms and internet providers. While some other tools focus exclusively on emergency benefits, the FRN collectively pulls together relief measures from all of these entities.

United Way supports 211 information services.  211's award-winning telephone helpline (2-1-1) and website provide a gateway to community, social, non-clinical health and related government services. 211 helps to navigate the complex network of human services quickly and easily, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in over 100 languages.
