As summer in Windsor-Essex comes to an end, United Way wrapped its Summer Eats for Kids program and hosted its Backpacks for Success pick-up event for children and their families.
With COVID-19 causing further financial distress for those already struggling this year, we shifted our summer programs so we could still help while keeping families safe. Summer Eats for Kids provided nutritious snacks, fruits and vegetables to families with school age children, and we handed out school supplies at summer's end because families shouldn't have to worry about their kids having the supplies they need to be confident in school.
Take a look at the impact we had in #YQG:
Thank you to our incredible donors, volunteers and partners for making these programs possible, and helping to ensure no child in Windsor-Essex is left behind.
We'd like to especially thank FCA Canada for sponsoring this year's Summer Eats for Kids program, and Farrow for its big commitment to Backpacks for Success. A big shout out to the City of Windsor CUPE Locals 82 and 542 for coordinating donation drop offs for these programs during the summer.
