Windsor, ON - United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County’s Emerging Philanthropists (EP) hosted a new fundraiser last week, raising $30,000 to help launch a new student cohort of the On Track to Success program in Downtown Windsor. The virtual UNEvent wrapped up a month-long celebration of those who took the money they would have spent on an expensive night out and invested it in supporting youth to graduate high school and get a post secondary education.

It costs a total of $100,000 to launch a program cohort of 20 students and provide wrap around supports to them and their families during their four years of high school and their first year of post-secondary or trade education. The Downtown cohort is an expansion of the program which currently runs in both West Windsor and Leamington.

“We are so thankful to everyone who helped jump start our fundraising towards launching On Track to Success in Downtown next fall,” says United Way CEO Lorraine Goddard. “In these difficult times, it’s more important than ever to ensure that youth have access to the supports that will help them succeed in school and life.”

“Friends of mine who work with at-risk teens often share stories about how incredible the kids they work with are, but because of their situation they won’t have the opportunities that more fortunate kids have,” says Paul Schincariol of Wincon Construction, who celebrated his UNevent on Thursday. “The On Track to Success Program gives kids a chance. It gives them the opportunity to reach their potential and build a good quality of life for themselves. Wincon is so proud to be associated with this invaluable program.”

The Emerging Philanthropist are still looking for community support to reach their event goal of $40,000.
